Paro festival

Witnessing Annual Paro Tshechu Festival, Cultural Sightseeing with Hike to Famous Tiger’s Nest or Taktsang.

Day 01: Arrival in Paro

On arrival at Paro airport you will be received by our representative and transfer to hotel. In the evening explore the town. Overnight, stay at a hotel in Paro.

Day 02: Paro Festival
After the breakfast, we will drive to the festival site and witness the most interesting annual Paro festival (Tsechu) for whole day. Festivals are preformed to honor Buddhist saint Guru Rimpoche who brought Buddhism in the country in 7th century. Interesting and colorful mask dances are shown publicly in open ground especially in the courtyard of the fortress. Witnessing the Tsechu is believed to accumulate the good deeds and help us to get rid of the sins committed in the past. This is also wonderful opportunity to click the Bhutanese in best outfit with most expensive garments and jewelries. Overnight, stay at a hotel in Paro.

Day 03: Paro Festival

After breakfast we will visit the festival site and stay there for half of the day. After lunch we will drive to the north end of Paro valley and hike to tiger’s nest (Taktsang). Taktsang is built on a cliff 900m above Paro Valley. It is believed that Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhva) arrived on the back of a tigress and mediated for three years, three months, three weeks, three days and three hours in cave in the 8th century where the monastery stands now. For an average hiker it will take 2 hours uphill to reach the monastery. In the Evening stay at a hotel in Paro.

 Day 04: Paro to Thimphu

Now after early breakfast we will drive towards the capital city of Bhutan, Thimphu. It will take 2 hours to reach thimphu from paro.  After reaching Thimphu check into the hotel and proceed towards visiting the sites in Thimphu. Changangkha lhakhang, the oldest temple in Thimphu built in 12th century. It is popular temple for pilgrims and for new born babies. Takin Preserve Park, Takin is the national animal of Bhutan. Memorial Chorten (Stupa) was built in 1974 in the memory of the third king of Bhutan. Then we will visit Great Buddha Dordenma is a gigantic Shakyamuni Buddha statue. The statue sited at kuensel phodrang is one of the largest Buddha rupas in the world. In the evening if time permits we will visit Tashichho  Dzong ( Fortress), which houses most of the government  offices, throne room and office of the king. Overnight stay at hotel in Thimphu.

Day 05: Thimphu to Paro

After breakfast, visit Painting school which teaches the techniques of traditional paintings, sculpture and other forms of traditional arts and one can view the students at work. National library holds a vast collection of ancient Buddhist texts and manuscripts some dating back to several hundred years. Craft Bazaar has got a wide range of authentic Bhutan made art and craft products for sale, where you can buy few as a memory of your visit to Bhutan. Then we will drive towards Paro. Visit National Museum (Ta- Dzong), once a watch tower built to defend paro Dzong (Rinpung Dzong) during inter valley wars of 17th century was later inaugurated as National Museum in 1968. In the evening stroll around the market.  In the evening stay at hotel in Paro.

Day 06: Departure

After early breakfast drive to Paro airport for flight to onward destination.
