Drukpath Trek is one of the most popular treks in the country. It passes through a gorgeous natural landscape of blue pine forests, high ridges and pristine lakes while at the same time offering the opportunity to visit some ancient lhakhangs, dzongs and villages.
The trail takes you through forests of fir, blue pine and dwarf rhododendrons at altitudes ranging between 2400-4200 m. This trek also offers stunning views of Mt. Gangkar Puensum, one of the highest unscaled peak in the world.

Day 1: Arrival in Paro
On arrival at Paro airport, you will be received by our guide and check you into your hotel. After lunch, we will proceed to see the rich history of Bhutan exhibited in the 17th century national museum. The Paro Dzong built in the 17th century now now houses the monastic body. A tour of this dzong will give us the unique aspects of the Buddhism in Bhutan. Overnight in Paro. Altitude: 2200m
Day 2: Excursion to Taktsang(Tiger’s Nest)
Tiger’s Nest monastery is the most revered temple to the Bhutanese. This temple clings to a vertical cliff 800m above the Paro valley. In the 8th century, Guru Rinpoche, a tantric master flew here on the back of a tigress and meditated in a cave around which the temple is built. A hike to this temple will take up most of our morning. In the afternoon, we will host a special Buddhist prayer ceremony at the beautiful 1200 year old Kyichu Lhakhang Temple, to bring us good luck for the rest of the journey. Overnight in Paro
Day 3: Paro to Jela Dzong(Trek start-10km,6hrs,3000m)
The journey starts with a short climb up to Jele Dzong. The trek trail ascends gradually up to the camp, and if the weather is clear Paro valley can be seen with snowcapped mountains behind. Above the camp is Jeela Pass and Jele Dzong(mostly in ruins). Overnight camp.
Day 4: Jela Dzong to Jangchulakha(10km,4hr,3200m)
Begin with a steep climb for about half an hour, and then ascend more gradually upwards. The trail takes you through thick alpine forests and rhododendrons. You will see fine views of Chomolhari and other snowcapped peaks if the weather is clear. You may also see yak herders around your campsite. Overnight camp.
Day 5: Jangchulakha-Jigmelang Tsho(11km,4 hrs)
The trail follows a ridge and on a clear day, the view of the mountains and valley are simply stunning. Our campsite is cloase to jigmelang Tsho. This lake is known for its giant sized trout.
Day 6: Jimilangtsho to Labana(15 km,7 hrs)
The trail will take us through dwarf rhododendrons and junipers. We will also pass the lake of Janatso and Simkotha. The view of the far ridge across the valley which you trekked will find you with sense of personal satisfaction and renew you with extra confidence in yourself. Tonight is going to be the coldest of all our camps.
Day 7: labana to Thimphu (12km, 6hr)
On a clear day, we can see the Gangkar Puensum, the highest peak in Bhutan. We will be passing through the temple and meditation center complex of Phajoding. Our transport will meet us just as we start emerging from the forest and drive to Paro for our departure flight next day. Overnight in Paro.
Day 8: Departure
After early breakfast drive to airport for flight to onward destination.
