Bumthang Cultural Trek is a three day trek is ideal for average walkers as the altitude does not go over 3,400 meters. Bumthang Cultural Trek 12 Days crosses several villages and wends through the picturesque Bumthang countryside, giving an exceptional opportunity to be in contact with rural life.

Day 1: Arrival in Paro (1.2 hrs)
On arrival at Paro will be met by our representative and transfer to Thimphu. Thimphu is the capital city of Bhutan. On arrival, check into your hotel. In the afternoon, we will visit memorial chorten built in the memory of our late third kind and further drive to Buddha point view to visit largest Buddha statue in the world. In the evening relax at your hotel or explore Thimphu city. Overnight, stay at hotel in Thimphu. Altitude: 2400m.
Day 2: Thimphu sightseeing
After breakfast visit Takin’s mini zoo, painting school, national library, folk heritage meseum, textile meseum and handmade paper factory. In the evening, visit Tashichho Dzong, fortress which houses the throne room of His Majesty the kind and summer resident for central monk body. Overnight, stay at hotel in Thimphu.
Day 3: Thimphu-Punakha (2.5 hrs)
Checkout from the hotel, and drive to Punakha over Dochula pass at 3050m. On a clear day you can enjoy a spectacular view of the highest mountains of Bhutan at a site that stretches almost 180 degrees. After our packaged lunch we will visit Punakha Dzong (fortress) which houses the most elaborated temple in the country. One can also visit Souvenir making center and evening hike to Khamsum Yulay Namgyal Chorten, which will take about 45 mins to reach on the top, evening back to the nearby Amankora Lodge. Overnight in Punakha. Altitude: 1350m.
Day 04: Punakha – Trongsa (5 hrs)
Checkout from the hotel, and visit Chimi Lhakhang, the temple of fertility on foot. En-route visit Wangdi town and continue to Trongsa over Pelela pass at 3300m. Visit Trongsa dzong on arrival. Evening relax in Trongsa . Altitude: 2650m
Day 05: Trongsa- Jakar(3 hours, 2650m)
After breakfast checkout from the hotel and visit watch tower recently converted into Trongsa meseum. Enroute we will stop at weaving center, which is famous in the region. Evening, explore the tiny Jakar town. Overnight in Jakar.
Day 06: Jakar Sightseeing
Visit Jambay Lhakhang, the home of the naked dance that is still performed annually. Visit Kurje Lhakhang, the site where Bhutan’s royals are cremated. One can either walk cross the suspension bridge or visit the village of Prakar and Tamshing. End your day with a walk passing by the Swiss farm. Evening stroll in Jakar town and try some local pancakes and noodles. Overnight in Jakar.
Day 07: Jakar-Thangbi-Ngalathang (Trek start: 10km, 4hrs, and 2800m)
Trek begins from today. Trek from the Tokta Zampa through the villages and fields, it is gradual and almost flat land, the trail is all stony, you can’t escape the stones or drive along the dirt road to Ngala Thang. Camp at Ngalathang.
Day 08: Ngalathang-Takhung (14km, 7hrs)
Initially the trail is through the fields and villages, over the small hill and down the stream through the forest of pine, cider and oak. After the second stream the trail starts climbing through the dwarf bamboos, old trees with Spanish mosses hanging down making the environment cold and sunless and it is muddy in some of the places finally through the rhododendron forest with a steep climb to the phephela Pass (3360m), from here the trail is down through the thicker forest and finally a white gate of chorten welcomes us for a flatter trail with dwarf bamboos and pine forest. Your pack lunch will be served either at the pass or at the chorten. Camp at Takhung or near Tang.
Day 09: Takhung-Tang-jakar(Trek end-6km,2 hrs,2650)
After breakfast, see off our trekking staff and rive to Tang to cisit Tang museum and villages. En-route, we will stop at Mebartsho, the Burning Lake to offer the prayers for the rest of the journey. Further we will drive to Jakr. Overnight at Jakar.
Day 10: Jakar-Paro(fly-out)
After breakfast, our staff will drop you at the domestic airport and catch you on the very next time. On arrival in Paro, our team will receive you and transfer you to your hotel. In the afternoon, visit National Museum. The Paro Dzong , a massive fortress built in the 17th century now houses the monastic body. A stroll downhill from the dzong, over an old cantilever bridge. Overnight in Paro.
Day 11: Paro Sightseeing
After breakfast, our team will receive you and transfer to north end of Paro valley and hike to the Tiger’s Nest. Tiger’s Nest is one of the renowned temples in Asia which ceilings on the vertical cliff 900m above the Paro valley. En-route drive to visit historical ruined Drugyel dzong and Kichu Lhakhang. Overnight in Paro.
Day 12: Departure
Our tour ends today. We will transfer you to the airport for your departure flight and will bid you farewell at the airport departure gate.
